FAQ
Answers to common questions about Soo Gig.
What is Soo Gig?
Soo Gig is a local directory of gig workers, freelancers and helpers in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Need your lawn cut, your driveway plowed, a room painted or your laptop looked at? Browse the listings or the map and contact someone local directly.
Does it cost anything?
No. Listing a service is free, and browsing is free. Soo Gig does not take a cut of any job — you arrange the work and the payment directly with the other person.
Do I need an account to browse?
No. Anyone can browse the service listings and the map without signing up. You only need an account to post your own service, save a listing, leave a review, or message a worker through the site.
Who can sign up?
Soo Gig is for Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area. Registration checks your postal code against local ones (P6A, P6B, P6C and P0S), which keeps the directory genuinely local instead of filling up with listings from out of town.
Do I have to put myself on the map?
No — the map pin is completely optional. You can add a pin to show roughly where you are based or where you work, drag it wherever you like, or skip it entirely and just list your service area in words. Your listing shows up in the browse list either way.
How do I get paid?
That is between you and your customer. Soo Gig does not handle payments, invoices, or contracts, and does not vet or guarantee anyone listed here. Agree on the price up front, and read the disclaimer before arranging work.
Something on here looks wrong. What do I do?
Every listing has a 🚩 Report link. Tell us what is wrong and an administrator will review it.
Still stuck? Read the disclaimer, or get in touch.
